PRP Injections

What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?

Allied Health Performance & Medical is an accredited PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) medical provider and proudly offers PRP therapy to all patients.

The treatment accelerates the body’s natural healing process by using your own cells to promote healing of bone, tendon, cartilage, ligaments, muscle and skin tissue.

PRP injections work by delivering powerful growth factors that stimulate and improve blood supply to the injured area and the nutrients needed for cells to regenerate the damaged tissue.

PRP therapy is an innovative medical solution that assists the patient to repair, restore and regenerate their damaged cells. There is enormous research world-wide in new techniques using patient’s own biological material, refined by specialist staff and equipment, and re-injected or administered back to the patient.

In simple terms, we take a vial of your blood, spin it in our centrifuge to separate the plasma, extract the platelet rich plasma from the vial and inject this into your injured site expertly guided by ultrasound.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP injections) is one area of regenerative medicine that has been proven to be beneficial in halting degenerative change and improve tissue regeneration in certain conditions such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, musculo-skeletal injuries such as tears as well as skin conditions (acne, scarring, stretch marks) and hair follicle rejuvenation.

We are exceptionally competitively priced and pride ourselves as one of the most experienced PRP providers on the Gold Coast.

PRP injections can be used to treat

PRP Injections for Musculoskeletal injuries

  • PRP is often injected into areas within the body that have a poor blood supply to promote soft tissue and bone healing in these difficult to heal areas such as the plantar fascia (foot), achilles tendon (ankle), the rotator cuff (shoulder), tennis elbow and the patella tendon (knee). Also most joint surfaces and cartilage have a very poor blood supply so once injured do not repair ( especially in adults)

PRP Injections for Wounds

  • PRP functions as a tissue sealant and drug delivery system, with the platelets initiating wound repair by releasing locally acting growth factors. These growth factors attract un-differentiated cells that aid tissue healing and regeneration, promote new capillary growth, and accelerate skin regrowth in chronic wounds. PRP injection therapy can positively impact wound healing and associated factors such as pain and infection in both chronic and acute cutaneous wounds.
  • Wounds treated:
    • Arterial;
    • Venous;
    • Pressure; and
    • Diabetic

PRP Injections for Aesthetics (skin rejuvenation and hair restoration)

  • In dermatology and cosmetic medicine, PRP injections have been used to treat acne, scarring, skin rejuvenation and tightening around the eyes (for sun damaged and ageing skin and fine lines) and in the following areas: cheeks and midface, jawline and submalar regions, back of hands, decolletage, and others (eg, knees, elbows, and upper arms, as well as for stretch marks.
  • In hair restoration, PRP is injected into the scalp. The application of PRP causes miniaturized hair follicles to become healthier and larger, producing more robust hair growth. PRP injections activate follicular progenitor cells (adult stem cells) and promotes angiogenesis and localised cell growth. Effective for both male and female pattern hair loss.
